NEWNC Annual Election Scheduled for Saturday, May 19

On Saturday, May 19, the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) will hold its annual election to select six members of the twelve-member Council.

Candidates must be 18 years old, a resident and must secure 40 signatures on a nomination paper to be eligible to be placed on the ballot, which will be drawn by the Council publicly.

A Candidate’s Night will be held on Monday, May 14 at 7 PM in the Center where those running for a seat on the Council can express their reason (s) for seeking a seat on the neighborhood group.

According to NEWNC at President John Pregmon, “The community election will be held on Saturday, May 19 at the Center from 10 AM to 2 PM.” He added, “The ballots will be counted once the election is over, right in the Center.”

Any ballot that has been declared invalid will be available for public review. If a recount is needed, it will take place immediately following the count.

            Ballots are available at the next NEWNC meeting on Monday, April 9 and are due back May 7.
