RUFF Officially Opens New Dog Park

By Phil Orlandella

It’s been a long time in the making but the new dog park located in DeFilippo Park on Prince Street was officially opened in December.

Hosted by Responsible Urbanites For Fido (RUFF) the opening attracted many canine owners and other residents. Coffee and treats were available for both humans and canines.

RUFF has worked hard to bring the community a top-of-the-line dog park and have finally reached their goal.

The park will be fully operational for the winter months and RUFF will host a grand opening this spring when they can show off the water features in the warmer weather.

“Each day on the road to success brought new challenges, progress and finally success,” RUFF members boasted.

“Water lines have been down and water successfully flows in the new park,” according to RUFF. The concrete is now a lush green grass for paws to prance on,” RUFF added.

The park has jumps, tunnels, decking, misting hydrants and more to provide endless entertainment for canines and their owners.

RUFF was thanked and congratulated for their community endeavor by those that attended the opening.

The neighborhood organization thanked everyone that helped make the dog park a reality, including Mayor Martin Walsh, Senator Joe Boncore, Representative Aaron Michlewitz and former Boston City Counselor Sal LaMattina.
