Mah Johngg Club – Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. -  2:00 p.m.

Come and play the American-style variant of this tile-based game that originated in China and requires skill, strategy, and calculation. Beginners are welcome. Please note that beginner instruction begins at 11:00 a.m. No sign up is required.

Book Discussion Club for Adults – Wednesday January 17  –  6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This month, in conjunction with Citizen Read, we are reading 2014’s “Citizen: An American Lyric” by Claudia Rankine. The work is a collection of poetry, essays, and images covering issues of identity, race, and microaggression. Books can be picked up at the library’s front desk.

Information Session: The People’s Law Firm: Assisting Communities in Challenging Times – Wednesday January 24 — 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Yarlennys Villaman, Outreach Coordinator for the Community Engagement Division of Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, offers a brief overview of the roles of the Attorney General in the state of Massachusetts and of the Community Engagement Division.

CHILDREN’S EVENTS

Chess Club – Tuesdays January 9, 23 — 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.

Advanced beginners and intermediate players ages 7 – 12: enjoy a challenging chess match with other kids and learn some new tactics from our friendly, knowledgeable chess mentor. Groups please call ahead 617-227-8135.

Little Groove – Friday January 12 –– 11:00 – 11:45 a.m.

Get ready to shake, wiggle, and move with Little Groove! Children will interact with parachutes, puppets, instruments and more as they learn and play in a fun musical environment.

Baby Time with Ms. Becca – Fridays January 5 , 12, 19, 26 at 10:00-10:30 am

Join Ms. Becca for stories, songs, fun, and more in a program just for babies. This program is for babies 0-18 months. Please come prepared to actively engage with your child.

Toddler Storytime – Fridays January 12, 19, 26  -  11:00-11:30 am

Join Ms. Alyson for a story time filled with books, songs, activities, and more! This program is for children ages 18 months and older. Please come prepared to actively engage with your child.

Lego Club – Tuesday January 16 at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday January 20  at 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Love Legos? Have the urge to build something wild and crazy? Join us for our Lego Club!

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) – Saturday January 20 – 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.

Join us every other Saturday for STEAM activities. Children ages 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. January 20: Watercolor Exploration.

Comic Creation – Monday January 22 – 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to create your own comic book or graphic novel?

Stop by after school, and we’ll provide the tools you need to make a basic book. You bring the inspiration! All ages are welcome.

TEEN EVENTS

Teen Gaming – Wednesday January 17  – 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to stop by and play videogames with friends. This program is for teens, grades 6-12.

Teen Book Club – Wednesday at 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Teens in grade 6 and up: join us for our FIRST Teen Book Club meeting, where we will discuss books we like and pick up a copy of Dick Lehr’s new novel “Trell.” Then Join us again in January to meet the author!
