There was only one voting agenda item at last week’s North End/Waterfront Residents Association (NEWRA) monthly meeting held in the Nazzaro Community Center.
A request by 3 Battery Wharf, Sweet Basil, Inc. d/b/a The Cactus Club to transfer its Common Victualler 7-Day All Alcohol License with a 2am closing to Boston Beverage Services, Inc. d/b/a Battery Wharf Hotel Boston Waterfront was supported by the association 23-3. Abutters in attendance also supported the request.
The transferee reportedly stated that the operation of the hotel, the size and scope of the licensed premises, the hours and any other conditions in place and will remain exactly the same, including the current manager of record.
The request is to transfer the license to an Innholder full liquor license to fit the operation as a hotel.
David Kubiak requested that the owners continue to have public access around the facility and to the second floor museum and the viewing area. He claimed that second floor access was not available by past owners despite telling NEWRA that it would be.
In addition, public access to rest rooms, was also committed when the project was originally approved by the community.
A presentation by the North End Beautification Committee (NEBC), a community based organization, explained the accomplishments and future goals of the volunteer group of residents.
One of the future goals of NEBC is to place banners on poles throughout the neighborhood, welcoming people to the historic North End.
NEBC told residents that in order to continue to accomplish the many things they do throughout the community, they need financial support. For details email nebeautificationcommittee@gmail.com.
Department of Public Works, due to weather related issues, canceled a presentation relating to new plans for the North Washington Street Bridge (commonly known as the Charlestown Bridge) rehabilitation.
The next NEWRA monthly meeting is slated for Thursday, March 12 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
