Officer Ted Boyle Honored at the Community Event

When District A-1 Boston Police Community Service Officer Ted Boyle was announced as the recipient of the Fred “Uncle Fred” Carrangelo Award for his 20 years of outstanding service to the North End, he received a standing ovation from the 200 or so people that attended the annual North End Christmas Fund Benefit Lunch held at the Fillipo’s Ristorante on Causeway Street.

The special event is held to help out needy local residents and seniors during the holiday season.

Event coordinators included the North End Athletic Association (NEAA), North End Against Drugs (NEAD), the North End Health Center and the Nazzaro Community Center.

As he’s done so many times, Somerville District Court Clerk Magistrate Robert “Ted” Tomasone spearheaded the benefit neighborhood event and acted as the Master of Ceremony.

Mayor Martin Walsh, Ted Tomasone, Representative Aaron Michlewitz, Captain Kenneth Fong along with others participated in the award presentation to Officer Boyle who is recognized through the neighborhood.

Officer Boyle a 29 year veteran of the Boston Police Force, 20 of the last years stationed at District A-1, working with North End residents and community organizations in a variety of ways.

He’s a Board Member of North End Against Drugs, a long-time member of the North End Public Safety Committee. Involved with the Boston Police Athletic League which sponsors local youth events, activities, sports and field trips.

Officer Boyle also works with the Nazzaro Community Center, the Eliot and St. John Schools providing safety talks, violent prevention and substance abuse workshops.

Officer Boyle told the Review he, “Loves working in the North End and with many of its organizations and was proud to receive the neighborhood award.”

                                                                                The Committee also paid tribute to light-long resident Dom Campocchiaro who recently passed away. Dom was the President of the North End Athletic Association and volunteered well over 50 years of his time providing athletic activities to the youth of the community.
