Don’t remove North Square chains

The maritime designed chains in North Square are from the USS Constitution and were placed in North Square around the time of the 1976 Bicentennial and should remained in the public square.

Boston Public Works (BPW) needs to reconsider removing the chains in their ongoing design process.

Many residents and abutters, told BPW at a public meeting, that they feel the chains should remain.

Apparently other neighborhood meetings will be held to hopefully finalize the design plans for the square. Maybe this time around, the chains will remain in the plans.

The holiday extravaganza ran for six hours with many residents and visitors doing some early shopping.

It was a unique experience for shoppers to take advantage of discount prices, light refreshments and some holiday entertainment.

The businesses involved with the neighborhood holiday stroll did an outstanding job that attracted hundreds of customers to the community that also patronized other neighborhood restaurants and shops.

Participating businesses: a matter of FACE, Cataldo Interiors, Christian Pleva Images, Coconuts, Ensemble, Heart & Sole, in-jean-ius, LIT Boutique, Luigi & Lola, Luke Aaron, Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe, North Bennet Street School, Officina 189, SALMAGUNDI, Savas Studios, Sedurre, Shake the Tree, Sol Optics, Twilight and The Wine Bottega.

Minor League Baseball Banquet a hit

Five, North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Minor League program teams were honored at an awards night held in the Nazzaro Community Center.

Family members, volunteer coaches and friends filled the Center’s Hall to recognize the efforts of these young baseball stars that will progress into the other NEAA baseball programs in the near future.

The league was sponsored by the North End Against Drugs, Inc. under the direction of Ralph Martignetti with the capable assistance from many volunteers.

Special medals were presented to all the players that attended awards night.

Benevento Pizza and Salon MiraBella sponsored the food and refreshments.

It was a true community event that went over well.
