Police Make 15 Arrests in the North End During August

District A-1 Boston Police made 15 arrests during the month of August in the North End.

This is apparently the highest number of arrests made in the community over a 30 day period that anyone can remember.

Arrests included drug possession and sales, receiving stolen property, affray (fights on the streets), larceny over $200, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and other crimes.

The overall Part 1 crime rate appears to also be below the 30 day period.

Statistics showed: No homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, auto theft, graffiti and community disorder.

Aggravated assault went from 3 to 2, breaking and entering dropped from 2 to 1, larceny went from 14 to 6 and larceny from a motor vehicle also dropped from 7 to 3.

Currently the North End has the lowest number of crimes in the District A-1 area.

One resident, told police there were used drug needles left in Christopher Columbus Park indicating these areas may have become stomping grounds for users and possible sellers.

Another resident advised that parking on the sidewalk at the Eliot School creates an emergency vehicle access problem. The resident presented  photos of the dangerous situation to police.

Still another resident told police that, “This has been the best Public Safety meeting held since he has been attending them for many years.” Many of the residents agreed.

            The next Public Safety monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, October 2 at 6:30pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
