NBSS Seeks 128 North Street for Expansion

MassDOT is planning a public meeting in October to discuss the Request For Proposals (RFP) for 128 North Street, North End, the Summer Tunnel Administrative Building.

One potential organization seeking to purchase the property that is comprised of slightly more than 6,500 total square feet on four levels including a basement is the North Bennet Street School for additional space for offices and instructional classes.

NBSS President Miguel Gomez-Ibanez announced the schools intensions at both community groups, NEWNC and NEWRA seeking their support for the purchase of the property

The building is just behind North Street Park and bounded by the exit of the Sumner Tunnel, Cross Street and North Street.

This historic structure is one of the few examples of the Georgian Revival style in the North End and located near the North End Park of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, according to MassDOT.

RFPs will be also sought for Parcel 11-A located at Hanover Street comprising of more than 1,500 unencumbered square feet.

The land portion of the site has approximately 64 feet of frontage on Hanover Street and 30 feet of frontage on Congress Street.

A portion of the property is currently leased to an abutter, Mother Anna’s Restaurant for outdoor seating.

The remaining space in the area is currently open for pedestrian use.
