Father of Missing Person Speaks at Candlelight Vigil

Keith Munsell speaking at the vigil for his son, Eric, on Boston’s waterfront.

Keith Munsell, father of missing 24-year-old Eric Munsell, led a candlelight vigil on Boston’s waterfront for his missing son. Dozens of friends and strangers braved the frigid cold between Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium to take part in the vigil.

Mr. Munsell was very complimentary of the efforts by the Boston Police Department detectives and their search efforts, that so far have come up empty. Eric Munsell disappeared three weeks ago, on February 8, following a night out in Boston. Search boats continue to look in the harbor, but the water is too cold for divers. Earlier on the night he went missing, Munsell was at Market Lounge on Broad Street celebrating his 24th birthday with friends.

The vigil was held near the place where Eric’s cell phone was last pinged on the waterfront. It was also the place that Keith Munsell said, “Eric would come to the water to think.”

At the candlelight vigil, there was a short speaking program and yellow ribbons were handed out. Following a moment of silence, participants were invited to complimentary clam chowder by Legal Sea Foods. A group also marched to the aquarium, a favorite spot for Eric.

Munsell, originally from New Jersey, lived in the North End. He graduated from Boston University and had been working for General Electric when he disappeared. Eric’s mother has returned home to Georgia.

Eric Munsell is 24 years old and described as white, 6-foot-1, weighing 180 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, and a scar on his left cheek. Anyone with information on Munsell’s disappearance is urged to call 911 or Boston Police District A-1 at 617-343-4248.
