Chamber Looking At Italian Heritage Night At Fenway

An idea to hold an Italian Heritage Night at Yawkey Way/Fenway Park was one of several items discussed at last week’s North End Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting held at St. Leonard’s Church Hall on Prince Street.

The business group decided to inquire an opinion of all its membership by email to find out if there is an interest in producing such an event that will involve game tickets and agreements restorations in other businesses in the Fenway Park area.

The Chamber also encouraged members to support the January 14 St. John School benefit being held tonight at Bricco’s on Hanover Street.

Members not in attendance were sent emails relating to purchasing tickets to the community event which will help provide the school needed supplies and equipment.

Jim Pasto and Jodi Piazza of the North End Historic Society showed up 15-minute documentary about the North End.

Chamber Vice-President Toni Gilardi said, The documentary was well done and the members really enjoyed it.”

The Chamber agreed to place the Historic Society’s information on their website and email its members in order to draw attention and hopefully attract some financial support to promote the documentary, according to Gilardi.

Former North End resident and local business owner Carla Gomes a guest speaker, talked about her upcoming fundraiser for diabetes.

Once again the Chamber agree to advise its membership about the benefit in an attempt to obtain additional donations for the benefit.

Carla’s son is a diabetic.

The possibility of the Chamber, the Old North Church and the Paul Revere House collectively placing brochures at the Faneuil Hall Visitor Center was discussed at length.

Details would have to be worked out with the City for Boston Parks Department before this could take place,” Gilardi noted. “Over 1.5 million people visit Faneuil Hall each year.”

Gilardi added, The possibility of producing coupon books offering discounted prices to visitors of the Old North Church and the Paul Revere House was also on the table for discussion.

The Chamber will not conduct a February monthly meeting. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 3:30 PM at St. Leonard’s Church Hall on Prince Street.
