Drivers that usually use the Callahan Tunnel need to be ready to adjust their driving routes come December 27, 2013.
On that day, the tunnel leading to East Boston will be closed to all traffic until March 12, about two and a half months.
Take the time to map out new traffic routes or find out what the best means of public transportation is.
MassDOT has held numerous community meetings to advise the general public of the closure and will continue to do so right up to the day before the tunnel closure will take place.
Advising family and friends by word of mouth will help to deal with the closure as well.
MassDOT is doing everything possible to get the message out and with everyone’s help, the Callahan Tunnel closure will be less of an impact.
