Government Center Garage Plans Merit Consideration

The development of the Government Center Garage has received an awful lot of attention over the years.

Original plans were simply over scaled and they were not accepted by the neighborhoods adjacent to the under used and unsightly parking garage.

A new scaled down proposal submitted to the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) by HYM Investment Group for design review has been presented to many neighborhood groups, individuals, the business community and local elected officials.

The North End/Waterfront State Senator and Representative, along with Boston District One Councilor have supported the major development proposal.

Based on a slideshow presentation it appears the developer has basically covered all the basics and is willing to work with anyone or any group to further discuss the garage project which will include rentals and condominiums, parking, a hotel and retail businesses.

The developer has hired North End resident Dino DiFronzo as the Community Liaison for the duration of the project.

DiFronzo was a wise selection as he is well known as a highly respected community person that will make himself available to the general public at all times.

The development of the Government Center Garage has taken too long and the area is in dire need of a major rehabilitation.

HYM Investment Group’s proposal is the best development project placed on the table in many years and it deserves serious consideration to become a reality.
