Several important updates will be presented at the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) monthly meeting this coming Thursday, July 11 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.

Topics will include the Greenway, an affordable neighborhood supermarket and the Government Center Garage Redevelopment Project.

In addition, there will be reports by NEWRA President, the Membership Committee, Parks and Open Spaces Committee and the Zoning, Licensing and Construction Committee.

NEWRA representative Robyn Reed, to the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Board of Directors, will provide information responding to several questions raised about the Greenway at the Association’s May 9 meeting.

Lia Tota and other members of the North End/West End/Beacon Hill Supermarket Committee will report on continuing efforts to have an affordable supermarket for the three neighborhoods.

Thomas O’Brien, President of HYM Investors, Inc. and other members of his development team will present their revised plans for redevelopment of the Government Center Garage site.

The new proposal would replace much of the existing 11-story garage between New Sudbury and New Chardon streets with 771 apartments and condominiums, a 204 bed hotel and 1.3 million square feet of office space.

The project includes a 48-story office tower, 45-story and 24-story apartment buildings, a 23-story hotel and condominium building, a 9-story office building and a 4-story retail complex.

Of the total 2.4 million square feet of new floor space, 85,000 square feet would be for retail and restaurant use.

The plan also calls for reconfiguring the MBTA bus terminal.

The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) may soon give Planned Development Area (PDA) status to the Government Center Garage site, which would remove existing zoning and pave the way for construction of the project.

The next NEWRA monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, August 8 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
