Mixed-use Development Planned for Causeway St.

A Boston development team has filed a letter of intent with the Boston Redevelopment Authority last week to build a 600 ft. mixed-use tower to serve as the gateway to the TD Garden on Causeway Street.

If approved by the BRA the project at 80 Causeway St. would mark the second large scale mixed-use development in the area.

The team, Delaware North Cos. and Boston Properties, propose building an attractive entrance into the Garden on the 2.8 acre parcel in front of the arena. The project would include first floor level stores and restaurants, 500 luxury residences, offices, and a 200-room hotel.

The development team must go through a BRA Large Project Review under Article 80. However, the team hopes to begin construction in 2014.

If approved, the Causeway Street proposal would be the second large project pitched for the area around the Gatden.

Recently tge BRA approved Avalon Bay’s plan to build 500 units of housing on Nashua Street.

The 32-story Nashua Street Residences was unanimously approved by the BRA Board and will bring 503 residential units and a 2-story public retail arcade to the North Station area.

  • Awesome! Hope they build two twin towers of atleast 700ft to make it a landmark like the AOL TimeWarner buildings in NYC.

  • With the Causeway St narrowing project (to accommodate undesired bike lanes) this project's proposal plans to DOUBLE traffic on Causeway St. Landmark, supermarket or not - it will be a traffic mess that will back up into your sacred North End area...
