Lucy Rago

Of Everett, formerly of the North End

Lucy A. (Bucchino) Rago of Everett, a former resident of Boston’s North End, died peacefully at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere. She was 96 years old.

The daughter of the late Cosmo and Maria (DelVecchio) Bucchino, Lucy was born and raised in Boston’s North End. She was a devoted wife and mother who was happy caring for her family and who had a special love for her grandchildren. An Everett resident for many years she will be missed by all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Rago. She leaves her devoted children: Alphonse Rago and his wife, Gail of Brockton, Lucille Iovanni and her husband, Michael of Peabody as well as her loving grandchildren Nicole and Michael.  She was a dear sister to the late Angelo Bucchino, Alphonse Bucchino, Rose Moretti and Helen Giacchino. She also leaves many dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford,  Wednesday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston’s North End at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston. Memorial contributions may be made in Lucy’s name to the Activity Fund of the Lighthouse Nursing Center, 204 Proctor Ave., Revere, MA 02151.

Michael ‘Nickey’ Sorrentino

Of Revere, formerly of the North End

Michael “Nickey” Sorrentino of Revere, formerly of the North End, died on March 13.

He was the beloved husband of Connie (Schiavone) and is also survived by his children, daughter in law, grandchildren, sisters, brother, sisters in law, nieces and nephews as well as by many other relatives and close friends.

A Funeral Mass in celebration of his life was  held in Sacred Heart Church, North Square, North End. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden. Theresa ‘Terry’ Barile

Of Reading, formerly of the North End

Theresa R. “Terry” Barile of Reading, formerly of the North End, died on March 13.

She was extremely active in physical fitness activities.

She was born in Montefalcione, Italy and the longtime companion of Dick Callahan,  the daughter of the late Federico and Luisa (Barile) Dello Iacono; sister of Joseph Dello Iacono of Everett, Amato Dello Iacono of Boston and Maria Leo of West Peabody and is also survived by three nephews: Sabatino, Fiore and Rico; two nieces, Luisa and Theresa; six great nieces and nephews and by many friends especially her dear friend, Santa.

Funeral arrangements were by the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Rita Franzese

Daughter of Late Senator Joseph Langone, Jr. and Sister of Late Boston City Councilor Joseph Langone, III.

Rita M. Franzese of Orlando Avenue, Winthrop passed away at the Woodbriar Nursing Care Center in Wilmington after a prolonged illness. She was 82 years old.

Born in the North End of Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Hon. Clementina (Poto) and Senator Joseph A. Langone Jr. She was a resident of Winthrop for more than 54 years, a volunteer at the Cottage Park Yacht Club, a Regional Test Person for the United States Figure Skating Association and a volunteer and coach for Winthrop Youth Hockey.

She was the devoted wife of the late Atty. William P. Franzese and the loving mother of Janice S. Cushing and her husband, Leo of Lexington, Joseph P. Franzese and his wife, Lisa P. of Winthrop, William P. Franzese of Marblehead, Paula E. Rie and her husband, Marc of Melrose and the late Christine M. Franzese; dear sister of Madeline Sarno and the late Boston City Councillor Joseph A. Langone III, Frederick C. Langone, William N. Langone and Louise DeStefano and the cherished grandmother of William, Ashlee, Kirby, Trip and Annabelle.

Larry Mustacchio

Lifelong North End Resident

Larry J. Mustacchio, a lifelong North End resident and member of the Saint Agrippina Society, died on Saturday, March 16.

The beloved son of the late Angelina (Piazza) and Nicola Mustacchio of Sciacca, Sicily, he was the cherished father of Nicholas Mustacchio and his wife, Lisa of East Boston and Warren Mustacchio and his wife, Anna of the North End; loving grandfather of Nicole, Michael, Gina, Nicholas, and Nicholas Jr.; caring brother of Jack Mustacchio of Somerville and the late Anna Guevin, Catherine Medieros, Joanne “Nifa” Pizzi, and Jerry Mustacchio.  He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

His Funeral will be held from the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St, Boston, on Wednesday, March 20, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Leonard Church, corner of Hanover & Prince Streets, Boston, at 9:45 a.m. The family will accept visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.  Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
