Push for Local Supermarket Continues

The developer of the One Canal Projects (apartments) and a neighborhood supermarket has been filing applications for city approvals despite not having a supermarket in the development project, according to NEWRA Zoning, Licensing and Construction Committee co-chair David Kubiak.

Reportedly, MassDOT the owner of the land, has stated that it will not approve the lease with the developer unless and until a supermarket is included in the plans.

The North End/Beacon Hill/West End joint neighborhood supermarket committee is scheduled to meet with the Boston Redevelopment Authority director tomorrow, Thursday, January 23 to get an update on the project.

“The committee will continue to push the case for an affordable supermarket in the area,” Kubiak noted.
