RUFF Seeks Non-profit Status

RUFF President (left) Leslie Horn and RUFF Chairperson Amy Hand are shown at monthly meeting.

One of the fastest growing neighborhood groups is RUFF (Responsible Urbanites For Fido).

RUFF has been recognized by neighborhood groups, residents and elected officials for their total involvement in the community by helping to keep the area clean and for attempting to get other dog owners to become better neighbors.

At the group’s last monthly meeting (Nov. 13) at the Nazzaro Community Center, the main topic of discussion was planning to become a non-profit organization.

A special fundraiser event was held at the Fairmont Battery Wharf, Battery Lounge with proceeds going to the non-profit endeavor costs. RUFF also conducted its monthly parks and playgrounds clean-up last Sunday, November 18.

The community group is also in contact with various agencies to possibly develop one or two dog parks in the community. RUFF plans to hold neighborhood meetings if an area is available for a dog park.

The group’s recent Halloween Doggie Bash was well received by the community.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to RUFF should mail checks to Jenna Hitchko, 376 Commercial Street, Apt. 6D, Boston, MA 02109.

The next RUFF monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
