FOCCP Host Tall Ships 4th of July

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park will host a Tall Ships/4th of July celebration in the park that includes a parade through the park starting at 10am on Saturday, June 30.

This special celebration event will be a day of family/kid events in the park that will include a magician, juggler, storyteller and face painting and much more following the parade.

Other entertainment involves musical performances by North End Music and Performing Arts Center and their unique musical petting zoo which has been very popular with children at previous events.

The United States Navy Band will cap off the day as part of its tour to celebrate the War of 1812 Bicentennial.

“Our Tall Ships/4th of July celebration promises to be a wonderful day for families in the neighborhood and tourists who visit Columbus Park from around the World,” said FOCCP President Joanne Hayes-Rines.

The event will be a part of the weeklong celebration in Boston commemorating the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.

“We’re encouraging children to decorate their bikes, wagons and scooters in red, white and blue and march with us through the park,” Rines said.

The event is free to all thanks to the generous support of Al Dente Restaurant, Benevento’s Restaurant, Boston Pushcart and Century Bank.

The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (www.foccp.org) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization comprised of North End/Waterfront neighbors and businesses who work together to maintain and enhance the park and to sponsor special events in the park.

The current officers FOCCP are Joanne Hayes-Rines President, Trish Baumer Vice President, Virginia Kimball Treasurer and Audrey Tortolani Clerk. Board members are Joe Bono, Meghan Denenberg, Mary Ann Esparo, Beverly Knight, Robyn Reed and Christina Sperry.
