NEAA Baseball Season off to a Great Start

It was a great start for the 2011 North End Athletic Association Baseball season at Langone Park on Commercial Street.

Opening Day began with a Majors double-header, a free barbecue and a dedication ceremony in memory of Tony Iudiciani an active participant in several NEAA programs who lost his life at the age of 19.

An Opening Day T-Ball League took place the next day and three days later it was Opening Day for the Minor League.

Street Magic Accapella provided the Majors double-header with three tunes..The National Anthem, Take Me Out to the Ball Game and Sweet Caroline.

It was a volunteer performance by the group that’s made up in part by three former North End residents.

This past weekend it was Opening Day for the NEAA Baseball Clinic.

Two traveling baseball teams are being formed and there is a good possibility of an in house Babe Ruth League as well.

“The NEAA had a great 2010 season,” Baseball Commissioner John Romano said. “It’s very possible the 2011 season will be even better,” he added.
