North End Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) will conduct its 2011 annual election for the Board of Directors at the Nazzaro Community Center on Saturday, May 14 from 10am to 2pm according to President Stephen Passacantilli.

Nomination papers for six open seats are available at the Nazzaro Community Center. Candidates must be a resident of Ward III Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

Candidates must secure twenty-five signatures of residents and return them to the Center by Friday, May 6 at 5pm. Candidates must be at least 18 years old or older as of May 19 to qualify for the community election.

President Passacantilli has named a three person election committee which will supervise the election from start to finish.

The committee will validate all nomination papers for placement on the ballot by a random drawing which will take place at the Council’s monthly meeting on May 9.

A Candidate’s Night will also be held at the May meeting. “Candidates must provide proof of residence and voters must also do the same,” Passacantilli said.

Ballots will be counted on site once the poll site is closed.

Ties will result in a recount.
