Butting heads with a Councilor Sal LaMattina fundraiser, the opening of a new North End restaurant and a totally beautiful summer evening, the New Dog Initiative meeting at the Nazzaro Community Center still managed to draw over 20 residents.
The meeting was the first in a series of a humane educational forum on responsible dog ownership.
Guest speaker Dr. Kiko Bracker, a Veterinarian, advised residents on the hazardous affects intestinal parasites have on their pets and their health care.
Other health educational forums will be held this fall. Some of them will be directed toward adults and other toward children.
Dr. Bracker’s presentation was well received by those who attended the public meeting. They were also impressed with the doctors ability to provide answers to their questions.
North End resident Maria Ciampa presented opening remarks relating to the meeting’s topic and introduced Dr, Bracker highlighting his impressive background.
The initiative was a partnership established by Representative Aaron Michlewitz and Councilor Sal LaMattina with the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital at the MSPCA.
