Shown are the major’s award winners with the coaches after an All-Star game.

June 20 the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) completed its season for 4-12 Year Old Baseball With approximately 150 kids in this age group the season dodged some rain drops but with the help of the crew from the Boston parks and Recreation Department, the field was in tip top shape and only a few games needed to be rescheduled!

The season, like most, started off slow but finished with a tie in the standings for first place with the Astros  (North End Food Tour) and Cardinals (St. Agrippina’s Feast Society)both at 8-2.  However, the Astros having a 2-1 face to face record captured first by the tie breaker.  The 3rd place Marlins (St. Anthony’s Feast) and 4th place Cubs (Regional Review) rounded out the standings.

The playoffs were different. While the second place Cardinals won the series two games to none, it took the Astros 3 games to finish off the feisty Cubs by hanging onto a 15-13 win in game 3.  In the Championship round, the Astros Won game one but the not to be denied Cardinals came back and won two straight to capture the Championship 2-1.

The season wrapped up with the annual End of the Year Baseball Extravaganza.  The day started off with the 4 year old clinic and 5 year old T-Ball program led by Marko Malich, Christi Gannon and Chris Filiberto.

Next up the 6 to 8 year old minor league played their final games while the 9/10 All-Star team took on the Charlestown Little League All-Stars.

All players from the 4,5 and 6 to 8 year old programs received a medal.

Just before the first All-Star Game, which the NEAA All-Stars won 8-3, Traci Walker-Griffith, Principal & Executive Director of the Eliot School threw out the first pitch in honor of her upcoming retirement.  A true friend of the N.E.A.A. and the neighborhood – a total class act! Traci was accompanied by her son Joey!  What a glorious finish to the season.  The N.E.A.A. would like to thank the Ausonia Council Knights of Columbus #1513 for ince again sponsoring the All-Star Jersey’s for all the North End All-Star Players!

The nightcap saw the 11/12 Charlestown Little League All Stars beat the NEAA All-Stars 14-3.

9/10: Will McGovern

11/12: Cal Perry
