Funds needed to care for Armenian Heritage Park

The Armenian Heritage Park on the Greenway in downtown Boston has attracted thousands of visitors over the years and remains a popular place to visit.

However, the year-round care and maintenance of the park costs have to be made.

Friends of the Armenian Park, the caretakers of the park are seeking financial support to keep the park the treasure that it is.

Many events and activities take place at the park each year for the public to enjoy.

Donations to keep this interesting and beautiful park up to par can be sent to Armenian Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 77, Watertown, MA 02471.

NEAA Soccer, Lacrosse Registration Underway

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) continues to develop programs for the youth of the community to participate in and enjoy.

Registration is currently underway for an indoor soccer program at the Nazzaro Community Center.

Thinking ahead, the NEAA is holding registration for its spring Lacrosse program for boys and girls.

Tunnel of Love on the Greenway

The beautiful lit Trellis on the Greenway in downtown Boston will be turned into The Tunnel of Love on February 1 and will remain up for the entire month.

Visiting the tunnel is a time to enjoy festive lights, romantic music and a chance to gather with friends and loved ones for a fun winter evening outing.

FOCCP art curator Robyn Reed and several other volunteer members worked together to make The Tunnel of Love possible to visit and enjoy.

This is a free event.

BPHC encourages getting Flu shots

Flu season is here and the City of Boston and Boston Public Health Commissioner (BPHC) are expecting a significant increase in cases.

Surging flu cases have occurred earlier this year with a major reported cases of flu related emergency department visits also increased at the same period of time.

The rate of infection is increasing rapidly among children under the age of five through 17.

Children and older individuals who are high risks are encouraged to get their annual flu shot which is highly effective at lowering the risk of severe illness and hospitalization, keeping yourself and your community safe this winter.

FONEL seeks new program ideas and members

Friends of the North End Library (FONEL) are seeking ideas from the neighborhood for new programs that could be implemented at the Library, 25 Parmenter Street.

Suggestions can be sent to [email protected] or at one of the board’s monthly meetings.

FONEL, an all-volunteer community group is also seeking new members.

Election of board members, officers and two directors will be held at FONEL’s January meeting.

FONEL’s Renovation Committee has and continues to seek support and city funding for much needed renovations and updated modern equipment.

Trellis lighting until mid-April

The glowing beautiful trellis lighting will continue to light up the Greenway and Waterfront until mid-April.
