Gabriella Colletta Zappata, District 1 Boston City Councilor presented her 2025 initiatives and answered questions at the February monthly meeting of the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) held at the Nazzaro Community Center.
The community group, along with other residents were introduced to the new District A-1 Commanding Officer Captain Richard Driscoll
In addition, Marcus Alexis Deputy Director, Coordinate Response Team for the City of Boston attended the meeting.
The team is responsible for addressing 311 quality of life issues and stopping outdoor congregate substance and issues.
NEWRA also discussed and voted on three agenda items relating to community requests.
LoConte (Brook Egg Farm, Inc.) 114-116 Salem Street received support (17-0) by NEWRA to replace its existing malt and wines license with a full liquor license. Current closing hour 11pm.
Lupoli Companies, 240-246 Commercial Street also received NEWRA support (13-3) to change the occupancy from a restaurant and offices to restaurant and eight residential units and to erect roof decks for exclusive use for units 7 & 8.
The community group also supported (17-0) a request by Vanessa Angelo Holley, d/b/a Modern Skin Brow Studio, 155 Endicott Street for a change of use to permit beauty services consisting of permanent makeup brows and lips.
