Cutillo Park Renovations

Plans are ongoing for the renovation of Cutillo Park located between Morton and Stillman Streets.

Reelected to NEWNC

Tania Green, Carmine Guarino and Ashley Leo were elected to two-year terms on the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC).

Red Sox Donate Equipment

The Boston Red Sox Foundation has once again donated hats, shirts, facemasks, baseballs, hand sanitizers and other supplies to the North End Athletic Association (NEAA).

Giorgio Family Donate Food

Once again, Al and Maryann Giorgio of La Familia Giorgio on Salem Street has donated 40 individual packed lunches to the residents of the Michelangelo Villa Apartments.

Nazzaro Center Programs

Boston Center for Youth (BCFY), Nazzaro Community Center has started some in-person programs for ages 6-18.

NEMPAC Opens New Site

North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new site on 50 Tileston Street will be held on Saturday, June 5 at 10:30 AM. For details call 617-227-2270.

Friend of Armenian Park

Tea and Tranquility event was held June 9, at 4 p.m. and a Labyrinth Walking Wellness event on Sunday, June 13, at 2p.m.

City Hall Adds Another Open Day

Starting June 7, Boston City Hall will be open to the public by appointment only for a fourth day each week. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Swan Boats Operating

Boston Public Garden has opened its popular attraction, Swan Boats. Current health guidelines are in place.

Large Scale Photo Display

The Boston Camera Club has created 88 large-scale photographs that are being displayed in a series along an entire city block at Fan Pier at the Public Green in Boston’s Seaport District. Free and open to the public through November 2021.

Mayor’s Garden Contest

Boston Parks and Recreation Department has organized the 25th Mayor’s Garden Club Contest.

NEHS Guest Speaker

Janey Haley was the guest speaker for the second time at the North End Historical Society.

An illustrated presentation of her new second novel, “The Beantown Girls” set in 1944 was given.

Letter To The Mayor

North End resident and community activist Janet Gilardi wrote the Mayor to obtain cab vouchers for seniors and handicapped.

No vouchers are currently available but the City is planning to continue the service in the near future.

NEWNC Monthly Meeting

The next North End Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) monthly virtual public meeting will be held on Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m.

The next North End Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) virtual monthly public meeting will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m.

Mayor’s Youth Council

Applications are available for teens to apply for membership in the Mayor’s Youth Council. Deadline is Sunday, July 18.

NEAD Scholarship Fund

Tunnel Closures

Work by MassDOT for the full restoration of the Summer Tunnel will begin with weekend closures in the spring of 2022 and prolonged disclosures in 2023.

Boston’s Food Program

Boston’s Food Access Program for 2021-2022 has been generate to help better serve the needs in the City. For more details call City Hall.

FOCCP Gardening Times

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) has started it’s a group gardening times, holding sessions twice weekly on Sundays 9:30 to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays 8 to 9:30 a.m. For details email [email protected].

COVID-19 Testing

NEW Health, 332 Hanover Street is testing for Covid 19 on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Enter on North Bennet Street side. Must make an appointment by calling 617-643-8000.

RMV Expands Hours

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has expanded designated Wednesday appointment hours for seniors 65 or older during April.

Street Cleaning Underway

Street cleaning in the North End has started and will be enforced by ticketing and subject to towing.

Expired inspection stickers and vehicle registration will also be enforced.

Free Tax Help

Residents that earn $57,000 or less per year can receive free tax assistance preparation through the Boston Tax Help Coalition.

 Qualified residents must call 311 or visit www.bostontaxhelp.org for appointment.
