Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) Horticultural Committee has been awarded the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) Good Neighbor Award for their outstanding efforts to help keep the community beautiful and clean. Committee chairperson Janet Gilardi said, “These unselfish volunteers meet every Sunday and Wednesday morning bright and early and get down and dirty and work for a couple of hours to beautify the very popular and well used park.†She added, “President Joanne Hayes Rines, Co-chairs Robyn Reed and Teresa O’Connell along with many other volunteers really do a terrific job and they should be recognized for their community efforts.â€
