It was a chilly day, but the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NSC) seniors had a fun filled day on their annual trip to Rockport.
Accompanied by NSC staff and volunteers, nearly three dozen local seniors jumped on the bus for an adventurous trip.
For many of the trip goers, this was their first outing out of Boston for some time, NSC reported.
According to NSC seniors said, “It’s so nice out in the open air and I love coming each year on this trip.â€
Apparently, it was a pleasant and scenic trip to the ocean and the seniors enjoyed snacks, water and music along the way.
Once they arrived at their destination, the group explore the many shops while walking through the streets of Rockport, stopping to purchase items along the way.
Besides the smell of the ocean, the seniors took in the site of flowers of all colors in full-blown.
They stopped for lunch at the Blue Lobster Grill, ordering a wide-variety of meals and the Grill was full with many discussions of all kinds.
Seniors told NSC Director Marie Stella Gulla the “day pass to quickly but there was plenty of time to relax, shop and have dinner.”
They also noted that “since the winter months, this was the first real outing they’ve had in monthsâ€.
Currently, the NSC is hard at work brainstorming future trips that could include Cape Cod and farmers markets.
Sen. Joseph Boncore, Sen. Sal Di Domenico, Rep. Aaron Michlewitz and City Counselor Lydia Edwards sponsored the bus service.
