Society takes pride in their holiday event

Saint Agrippina to DiMineo Benefit Society held its 23rd annual Christmas program for North End children this past Sunday at their Chapel on Hanover Street.

Each season the holiday activities attract more residents as the special effort by the society gets bigger and better.

Children met Santa Claus and his elves and took photos with them. In addition, every attendee received a gift, there was face painting, balloon giveaways, gift bags and popular characters spreading cheer and joy.

The Society takes pride in making these enjoyable activities available each year and they should continue to do so.

Basketball Bonanza a three-pointer

More than 50 children participated in the North End Basketball Skills Bonanza competition held in the Nazzaro Community Center court.

Children laced their sneakers up and took on the challenges under the watchful eyes of many volunteers and spectators.

It was a great opportunity for the Center’s membership and other local residents to test their skills in a well-coordinated and fun community event that was a three-pointer.

Trellis Lighting brings in the holiday spirit

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) helped bring in the holiday spirit with their annual Trellis Lighting events in the park.

Hundreds of people visit the park for this special event. Mayor Walsh, Representative Michlewitz, Senator Joe Boncore, and Councilor Lamattina joined in for the holiday event, while enjoying beverages and musical entertainment.

The Trellis Lighting added a nice touch to the spirit of the holiday season.

It’s a time too…..

Christmas is a special time of the year for people to capture the meaning and spirit of the holiday season that is basically celebrated throughout the world.

It’s a time to be jolly and cheerful while spreading the goodwill to everyone.

It’s a time for peace, tranquility and hope for family, friends and neighbors.

It’s a time to help those less fortunate.

It’s a time to thank all those who keep this country safe so we can say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Nazzaro Center NEAA Basketball on a fast-break pace

Another season of Nazzaro Center/NEAA basketball season has hit the court on a fast break-pace with over 200 players participating in the neighborhood’s most popular round-ball program.

Each player received a team shirt and will participate in a full schedule of basketball and receive a trophy at the annual banquet.

Playoffs, an All-Star Game, March Madness Tournament and a trip to a Celtics game is part of the program.

This is a special community activity that is well coordinated and supervised by qualified volunteers.

            Children flocked to this program every year.­
