Senator Boncore hosts holiday luncheon

A terrific Thanksgiving luncheon for North End seniors was sponsored by State Senator Joseph Boncore in the Nazzaro Community Center.

Seniors enjoyed turkey and all the trimmings, dessert and beverages.

It was a fun time for everyone that attended the turkey day festivities sponsored by Senator for the second consecutive year.

Senator Boncore has helped sponsor many other activities, events and programs in the North End.

Lydia Edwards needs to establish community resources

District 1 has a newly elected Boston City Councilor Lydia Edwards, to a two-year term at City Hall.

Edwards defeated North End candidate Stephen Passacantilli by about 700 votes District 1 consists of the North End, Waterfront, East Boston and Charlestown.

Now that the election is over, it’s time to mend the political fences and settle into taking on the needs of the district that outgoing Councilor Sal LaMattina handled so well.

It is extremely important that the newly elected Councilor establish a close working relationship with residents (vice a versa) to make things happen in a positive manner by being on the same page.

Recognizing neighborhood organizations and their goals, opinions, suggestions, requests and concerns would be a giant step in the right direction.

A good source for the Councilor would be her opponent Stephen Passacantilli.

Congratulations Lydia Edwards on your victory.

Grinches are lurking to steal packages

Robbery seems to increase during the Christmas season, especially with packages being taken out of doorways and deliveries left in plain view.

Residents should be aware of delivery times so that items won’t disappear, including expensive goods.

Don’t kid yourself, there are plenty of grinches working out there ready to take whatever they can get their hands on faster than Santa can travel from the North Pole.

Neighbors should watch out for deliveries and look for these grinches that know how to spoil Christmas in a flash. Call the police as soon as possible if a Christmas thief is spotted.
