There are 255 precincts in the City of Boston and plenty of voters who may need some help with procedures and/or information on election day, according to Maria Lanza, Liaison for the Neighborhood Services Department.
“The city is looking to hire people, poll workers, for one day only and full shifts from 6 AM to 9 PM. Sometimes the city offers split shifts,†Lanza said.
The Boston Election Department requirements are: Must be a registered voter (unless you are volunteering as an interpreter), attend 2-hour training.
Poll workers help out in numerous ways including: Getting voting locations ready for voters, counting ballots, checking voters in and out, recording election activities, packing up materials and checking ballots at the end of the day.
Paid positions are: Greeter, Interpreter, Inspector, Clerk and Warden.
