Losing a good Councilor and friend

An extremely important North End/Waterfront advocate, Councilor Sal LaMattina, has decided not to seek reelection for the District 1 Boston City Council seat.

Councilor Lamattina has been a tremendous asset to the neighborhood. His actions have always been dedicated to the community and the well-being of residents who reside in his district. He has always been a true ally.

Councilor Lamattina as also supported numerous community activities and events.

The community will not only lose a terrific City Councilor, it will also lose a good friend.

Nazzaro Center Basketball program a total success

Once again, the Nazzaro Community Center and the North End Athletic Association combined forces to hold another highly successful basketball program for the neighborhood.

The comprehensive program for boys and girls of all ages provided youth with a constructive and learning experience centered on team basketball with the emphasis on participation.

The program referred to as the Nazzaro Center Small Fry League is over 45 years old and is still in fast-break mode.

Everyone involved in this basketball program had it a terrific experience and fun filled activity.

MRA honors Frank DePasquale

North End businessman and resident Frank DePasquale of DePasquale Ventures and owner of numerous restaurants in the neighborhood has been named Restauranteur of the Year by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA).

He was honored for exceptional and award-winning North End restaurant concepts which he is well known for.

DePasquale takes pride in all of his business service and exceptional menus.

The MRA made a good choice in honoring DePasquale who truly has the touch for creating well-designed eateries and how to make them great places to dine.

NEAA benefit Golf Tournament

One of the best golf tournaments around is the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Golf Tournament held at the Andover Country Club each August.

Usually about 144 golfers participate in this benefit event that raises funds for the NEAA to provide many sports activities, trips and civic activities for children, pre-teens, teens and young adults of the neighborhood.

Participants will not only enjoy eighteen holes of golf, a terrific lunch, a raffle, prizes, but they will get to meet new and old friends.

It’s a fun and challenging event that supports a worthy cause.
