NEWNC Supports Limoncello 2 on Salem Street

By Phil Orlandella

Members of the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) voted unanimously to support a request by Maurizio Badolato of Ristorante Limoncello, North Square to open a second location, called Limoncello 2 at 76 Salem Street, the former site of Urban Cantina.

The request also included the transfer of the former owners’ beer, wine and cordials license with the change of closing hour from 12 AM to 1 AM. No extensive renovations are proposed for the new eatery with a seating capacity of 46.

Also, receiving a unanimous approval from the Council was a request by Battery Wharf Hotel to alter the licensed premises for its liquor license relative to a build out of the second- floor function room space with live entertainment. Abutters supported the request conditionally.

For informational purposes, the owner of a new nail salon at 85 Salem Street (True Value Hardware) will open late May or after Memorial Day. Cynthia Nguyen Salon will open 9:30 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week.

Alfred Ferrera has postponed his meeting with NEWNC until May to coordinate with abutters regarding building a roof deck at 57 Salem Street for the exclusive use for one unit.

Ann Hirsch and Jeremy Angier of A + J Design presented an update on possible public art being placed in North Square.

Boston Art Commissioner Director Karin Goodfellow spoke on the funding that has been secured for the project.

Several other community meetings have been held to solicit suggestions for the artwork on the historic public square near Paul Revere’s House on the Freedom Trail.

Four designed pieces of art were presented and the designer and the city asked for any suggestions relating to what was presented at the community meeting.

State Senator Joe Boncore presented an overview of upcoming legislation.

The next NEWNC monthly meeting will be held on Monday, May 8 at 7 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street.
