North End Senior Pride Day

In an ongoing effort to provide the best technology resources available to its students, the North End’s St. John School has unveiled its $65,000 state-of-the-art computer lab.

The lab features 18 brand new student desktops, a teacher computer and an Aquos 80″ interactive touch screen display board. The lab has been designed in three pods of six students to facilitate project collaboration.

“Exposing students to technology is a requirement in today’s world. It is critical that we teach students to be responsible and effective users of the technology in all levels of education, from Kindergarten on,” said Karen McLaughlin, Principal at St. John School.

The technology program at St. John students begin in Kindergarten with an iPad learning center. Students in grades 1 through 8 each have their own individual iPad, creating a 1:1 student to iPad ratio. Additionally, students can participate in St. John’s Scratch, Scratch Jr. and Minecraft after school clubs.

“This beautiful computer lab reflects St. John’s dedication to the importance of combining technology and learning and our students are thrilled with the results!” remarked Principal McLaughlin.
