Washington Street Bridge Traffic Flow Message a Priority

North End/Waterfront, West End and Bulfinch residents need to start preparing for the construction project on the North Washington Street Bridge, commonly known as the Charlestown Bridge.

While the design and traffic plans on the bridge itself are good, it’s the traffic effect to get to both ends of the bridge that could pose a major problem.

The estimated $125 million project to replace existing structural deficiencies is going to begin in the spring of 2017 and is expected to last until the end of 2020. A long time!

Once proposed traffic routes have been established and have been tested, things should start to smooth out on a regular basis.

However, until then an ongoing communication campaign in the directly affected areas and other cities and towns suggesting alternate routes should be a major focus by the City of Boston.

It’s imperative that the traffic message continues to be a priority.
