FOCCP Independence Day celebration attracted hundreds

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) did another terrific job celebrating Independence Day with a great community event in the park.

Working closely with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department the special event attracted hundreds of local families and individuals to a fun filled activity that started off with a Kids Parade led by Uncle Sam on stilts.

Entertainment throughout the day included puppeteers, a fire truck, touch tank, a magician and much more.

RUFF seeks to expand Canine Companionship program

Responsible Urbanites For Fido (RUFF) has begun a new terrific canine companionship program that already has some people barking.

Ruff’s special project for seniors provides supervised home visits, upon request, that are geared toward helping those that can’t get out on an everyday basis.

Using canines to create companionship, add laughter and happiness to neighborhood seniors is a great idea and Ruff deserves recognition for a caring effort that could catch on and expand throughout the neighborhood.

Ruff has accomplished many things in the community over the past three years. The canine companionship program has the ability to become well used and appreciated.

Borelli for Governor’ s Council

Life-long resident Attorney Stephen Borelli is a candidate for Governor’s Council for the sixth District in the September 8 Democratic Primary.

Borelli has over 30 years of experience as a special investigator as a Police Sergeant with the MBTA law enforcement office and as an Assistant Clerk Magistrate in Somerville District Court.

If residents want an elected official of high standards and to work hard for the community’s interest, then Stephen Borelli is the man for the job.

Borelli for Governor’s Council would be a wise choice.

Consider volunteering to help Seniors at and NSC

Anyone who has some time to spare, should consider volunteering at the North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center located at 1 Michelangelo Street.

The Center is seeking volunteers to teach senior about the Internet, exercise classes, arts and crafts, to assist in the food pantry and help with shopping, food preparation, cooking, serving and cleanup.

            This is a great opportunity to assist seniors and give something back to the community.
