Mayor’s traffic measures will create a safer city

Strong measures aimed at ensuring safe and reliable travel on city streets was a key component in Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s fiscal year 2017 budget.

A total of $3.1 million for FY 17 and $9.3 million over the next three years will help eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries throughout Boston creating improved public safety for pedestrians and drivers.

An additional investment in traffic signals and bike infrastructure is planned to the tune of $2 million.

We agree with the Mayor that it is important that the city’s transportation infrastructure is up to par providing the best and safest way for people to travel within the city’s boundaries.

The safety of all Boston residents and visitors is paramount. These investments will make for a safer city.

NEAA honors Orlandella and Giannasoli

This year’s North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Little League All Star Game will honor lifelong supporters, Phil Orlandella and Michael “Fud” Gianasoli, by naming the participating teams after them.

Orlandella is a former NEAA President and Director of many sports programs. Gianasoli has volunteered and coordinated several programs. Both are very supportive financially as well.

Non-profit volunteer organizations could not produce quality programming without the huge efforts put forth by Orlandella and Gianasoli and many others.

They certainly deserve credit and recognition for all they did and continue to do for the NEAA and the youth of the neighborhood.
