Communications Key to Bridge Construction Project

Plans for the rehabilitation of the North Washington Bridge (Charlestown Bridge) have been properly presented to the North End and other neighborhoods and to their credit the Massachusetts DOT Highway Department and Boston Public Works have placed everything on the table for comments.

The latest designs of the proposed $125 million development of the 100 year old Bridge in 2017, appears to be satisfactory to residents who want to see a transportation plan that will lessen traffic flow during construction.

Multi-model transportation positive landscaping, streetscaping and viewing areas from the bridge make this development ideal for the area.

Vehicle flow, pedestrian passage and bicycle accesses are also a major part of the development plans and design that MassDOT and the city have been implementing that will make for positive transportation access.

Both agencies are attempting to get this much needed rehabilitation project underway and completed with full communications with neighborhood residents and the business community.
