Christopher Columbus Statue Vandalized with “Black Lives Matter”

The white marble Christopher Columbus Statue was vandalized at the namesake park on the North End/Waterfront overnight on June 30th. A large amount of red paint was poured over the top and sides of the statue. On the back of the foundation block, the words “Black Lives Matter” were spray painted. The Boston Parks Department subsequently cleaned up the statue.
