A comprehensive report conducted by the City of Boston Neighborhood Service Department of the possible needs of every neighborhood has been released, including North End results.
Neighborhood Engagement Walks was a cross-department effort with the Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) representatives working closely with the City’s Inspectional Services Department, Public Works Department, Transportation Department and the Parks Department among others.
Starting last September, ONS walked the 850 miles of city streets in an effort to assess in great detail each neighborhood, on the ground, and evaluated infrastructure challenges, identified constituent concerns through conversations and catalogued issues facing each neighborhood.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh challenged ONS to find new innovative ways to engage with residents by visiting neighborhoods and logging everything they found to increase efficiency while maintaining greater transparency.
           While praising ONS for a job well done working and investing in every street and community in Boston Mayor Walsh said in a press release, “This report, for the first time in our history, truly assesses every piece of this City and allows us to better serve the people in our neighborhoods.”
