North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street will present Boston Light-Preserving an American Lighthouse Lecture and Slideshow on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 6-7:30pm.
Nearly 300 years ago Boston Harbor became the ideal maritime colony for commerce and trade. Because Boston Harbor required safe passage for economic growth, Boston Libght c.1716 was created as an aid to navigation. Today, Boston Light remains as an American maritime icon through a congressional mandate which spurred the creation of the Boston Harbor Island National Park. Come and hear and see Boston Light’s maritime history: past, present, future – 2016 and beyond. Presented by Todd Isherwood, assistant lighthouse keeper at Boston Light.
