City Needs Casino Funds to Meet Transportation Needs

Reportedly, a casino in Everett will generate 31,000 new vehicle trips on an average day.

That’s more trips that the richest man in the world, Warren Buffett, makes to the bank every day.

Several weeks ago, the mayor allegedly sent a letter to the commission saying the city reserves its rights to legally challenge a license award.

On the other hand, Wynn is working on diplomacy with the MBTA controlled by MassDOT to purchase three small parcels of land  the T owns in Everett to construct its entrance to its site.

While bids were still being accepted up until last Friday, the MBTA has clearly stated that $6 million to enhance services or invested in their capital is just too good of a transaction.

Transportation to and from a new casino in Everett appears to be the biggest problem that would impede the City of Boston, that’s why Mayor Martin Walsh wants to sit down with owner Steve Wynn to apparently set-aside their hard feelings and discuss the cities possible take from the $1.6 billion gaming facility on the Charlestown border.

Reportedly, the Mayor and his staff held and will continue to hold meetings on how to proceed with Wynn’s Resorts project.

Wynn needs the Mayor’s assistants to secure permits for the $20 million in Sullivan Square traffic improvements the State Gaming Commission requires in awarding the license.

The City of Boston is certainly deserving of casino funding to meet their transportation and other needs and the MBTA can use $6 million to help improve service to its customers.

It’s Wynn’s turn to spin the wheel.
