Boston Barber Tattoo Parlor Opens on Salem Street

Boston Barber Co. owner, Robert Dello Russo, says one of the most satisfying parts of his job is “seeing his ideas come to life”. Dello Russo’s clients have had a front row view watching his Salem St. business’s back yard transform into the City’s first Barber & Tattoo shop in history.

Open less than a month, artist Lauchie MacDonald has already created custom tattoos for a number of neighborhood residents, tourists from as far away as Ireland , and WHDH-TV Reporter, Adam Harding. A master at all styles of tattooing, MacDonald has been honing his craft for more than 13 years, with a passion for black and grey, and lettering. He says he’s “excited to bring his talents to the North End.”

Mixing the flair of flawless cuts and hot-shaves, with the craftsmanship of a tattooist, delicious drinks from an espresso bar, and 7-minute express tanning, is what Dello Russo says creates the “ultimate experience for both men and women.”

Becoming a Salem St. landmark in just 8 years, the shop has secured local celebrities, like Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Tuuka Rask, Will Middlebrooks, and Kelly Olynyk , as loyal customers. As well, Dello Russo recently renovated a more than five decade old barbershop in Beacon Hill, becoming the second Boston Barber Co.   A blown up picture hung on the wall shows JFK Jr. leaving the barbershop, in the late 50’s.

Notorious for having a traditional Italian ‘cigar bar’ atmosphere, complete with wall to wall photos of the neighborhood evolving over generations, Dello Russo says keeping tradition alive, is whats helped him become the newest part of North End history; attaining the support of both neighborhood councils, in order launch the neighborhoods first tattoo business.

“It’s an old school shop, with a modern rock n roll twist, mixing talent, creativity, and class.  The tattoo portion of the Boston Barber Co. takes my dream one step closer, to one day being able to leave behind a legacy in the neighborhood that did so much for me and my family,” said Dello Russo.
