NEWNC Opposes Commercial Street Restaurant Proposal

Nicole Griffith of Comserv LLC, owners of 420 Commercial Street applied to the City of Boston Zoning Board of Appeal to change the legal occupancy at the former gas station and Segway operating site in order to lease the property to North End resident Damien DiPaola  who is proposing an Italian Restaurant on the site with takeout service.

Variances are required since the property is located in a multi-family residential/local services sub district where restaurant use is forbidden as well as takeout services.

The gross area of the restaurant exceeds 1000 square feet. Seating capacity will be 54 indoor and 30 outdoor. Hours of operation will be 11am to 11pm on weekdays and the 11am to 12 midnight on weekends. No roof-deck is being requested. No live entertainment, just back
