Maria Calitri Alexander

Owned and Operated Olde Harbour Travel

in the North End

Maria Calitri Alexander of Boston’s North End passed away peacefully on May 16. She was 90 years old.

Maria was a proud USMC veteran who served during World War II from 1944 to 1946. She worked as a travel agent for over 50 years and for 30 of those years, she owned and operated Olde Harbour Travel in the North End. She was a life member of WMS Bay State Chapter and volunteered several years for “Toys for Tots” in Boston.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alec J. Alexander. She will be deeply missed by her family and she leaves two loving children, her son, Kenneth Alexander of the North End and Vietnam; and her daughter, Denise Archila and her husband, Robert of Braintree and three cherished grandchildren: Elyse, Danielle and Adam Archila, all of Braintree. She was the sister of the late Leon Calitri and Dolores Giuliano.

Funeral services will be from the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St, Boston on Thursday, May 22 at 8:45 a.m. followed by the rite of Christian Burial at St. Leonard Church, 320 Hanover St, Boston at 9:45 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m.  Private interment will be in The MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.WoundedWarriorProject.org or to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans www.nechv.org  Please visit www.BostonHarborsideHome.com  to leave an online condolence.
