NEWNC Tables Request for 2am Closure

Attorney Diane Modica and owners of Salem Street business.

A request by Dan Myer, owner of Goody Glover 48-50 Salem Street, was tabled by the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council.

The owner was seeking to change the closing hour from 1am to 2pm. Apparently, the building occupied by Goody Glover is being sold and allegedly, the new owner did not plan to renew the business lease which runs until the end of the year.

Council members were concerned as to what happens to the full liquor license if the business license does not get renewed and asked Myer to return to the next NEWNC meeting with some concrete answers.

The vote was 9-0 to approve Robert Dello Russo’s request to remove the existing structure at 210 Endicott Street and to construct a five-story (51 feet) building with four residential units and parking for the two-bedroom residential units.

The building has been owned by the Dello Russo family since 1947 and at least two of his family plans to move into the new building.

Once the Zoning Board of Appeal approves the plans the project will take about a year to complete.

Like a previous meeting with NEWNC, a request to open a restaurant at 115 Salem Street was totally confusing and the Council was not pleased that the applicant failed to show up at a scheduled NEWNC meeting to once again present plans.

The Council was not happy that the Zoning and Licensing Board approved the request without the applicant returning to NEWNC as they were supposed to do. The vote was 8-1 to table the request.

Cataldo Interiors, 40-42 Prince Street did not show to discuss possible plans to open an interior office with a showroom.

The next NEWNC monthly meeting will be held on Monday, April 14 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.

President Philip Frattaroli encourages all residents to attend.
