Callahan Tunnel Open

The Callahan Tunnel officially reopened yesterday, Monday, March 10 at 5am, following months of 24/7 construction that impacted traffic to East Boston and Logan Import.

The $19.3 million contract to McCourt Construction began on December 27 and included additional incentive payments of $71, 500 each day the tunnel opened prior to the advertised date of March 12.

The complete budget for the project, funded through toll revenues, was $25 million revised from the earlier $35 million estimate.
