Proponents of Household Trash Time Change Need to Express Support

Now that Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina has established (as requested by residents) a public hearing at City Hall (Monday, March 3, at 6:30 p.m.) to discuss the possibility of changing the time when household trash can be placed out for pickup, supporters of this change need to be on hand to speak in favor of the request by 800 local residents who signed a petition to make the change.

Keep in mind, this request, if enacted, does not alter the three times a week pickup. It’s clearly only a time change and no matter what is said, this is a fact.

Pro-activist made several good points why the change should occur. This includes having trash out on the street for 13 hours less.

A much better health situation.

Helps with rodent control.

Less time for the wind to blow exposed trash throughout the community.

Cuts down the time for trash pickers from opening bags and spilling debris onto the sidewalks and streets.
