Community Needs to Prioritize Requests

North End/Waterfront residents, as well as the business community needs to put together a laundry list of what they want or expect to happen in the community over the next few years, a prioritized list at that.

Like other neighborhoods throughout the City of Boston, everyone wants a piece of the pie and believe they should be first in line.

Residents should wake up and smell the coffee and realize that’s not the way things get approved.

Providing a list of things to be done and checking it twice will help elected officials understand what the community’s priorities are.

Obviously, not every request will be approved but starting from the most important one and working the way down the ladder could produce more positive results.

The three neighborhood groups: North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA), the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) and the North End Chamber of Commerce (NECC) should attempt to work with each other and residents to develop a master plan that works for everyone.

However, if everyone makes too many requests, then the powers to be get to decide what will or won’t be approved.

Think like a team!
