There is still time to register for the first annual “Stephen’s Run” scheduled for Sunday, October 13.
The 5K race will be run in memory of former North End resident and Vietnam veteran Stephen Perez who was tragically murdered at the age of 23.
Check in for the event will begin at the Prado (Paul Revere Mall) between Hanover and Unity Streets at 10am.
North End State Representative Aaron Michlewitz is spearheading the fundraiser which will benefit the New England Center for Homeless Veterans and the Rosanne Sdoia Recovery Fund, a victim of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Early Bird Registration by October 11 is $25, full price is $30. Details: Stephen’s Run 2013 at gmail.com.
Michlewitz who organized the annual North2South Baseball Tournament between the North End and South End Little Leagues said, “This is a great opportunity to remember Steven Perez who served his country and was a terrific community person.”
He added, “It’s also a way to raise funds for homeless veterans and a local young lady who was seriously injured during the Boston Marathon Day bombing.”
The race will run through the North End starting at the Prado and proceed through downtown Boston and end in the Prado.
