Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis will be one of three guest speakers at today’s September 3 North End Chamber of Commerce (NECC) meeting.
The Commissioner is expected to discuss public safety issues relating to the neighborhood and the Chamber will present Davis with a plaque in appreciation for his outstanding efforts on behalf of the City and the strong role he played as Boston’s Top-Cop during the unfortunate Boston Marathon incident.
TD Garden President Amy Latimer will present an outline of plans to develop a major project in the North Station area that includes two 400 foot towers with mixed use offices, residences, a hotel and retail space.
The developers plan to hold a neighborhood meeting in conjunction with NEWRA and NEWNC on Monday, September 16 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
Chip Tuttle representing Suffolk Downs will give a presentation regarding plans to develop a casino at the racetrack located in East Boston and Revere.
Participation in the upcoming National Italian Heritage Month activities in the North End will be discussed.
The Chamber wants to place banners depicting notable Italians, on poles along Hanover Street, recognizing their contributions and accomplishments during their life time.
In addition, the Chamber is thinking about coordinating a major street clean-up campaign during the month of September.
